No More Forever Wars
In the entire history of our nation, the United States has known only 17 years of peace. We have been in the Middle East for decades, and now we have entered a war with Iran that no one wanted. We must pull out of Iraq & Iran and end the drone wars. We have spent trillions of dollars in our wars in the Middle East that could have been better spent here at home for healthcare, education, and infrastructure. And worst of all, nearly a million people, including thousands of U.S. soldiers, have been killed in our over two decades of war in the Middle East. Our wars have destroyed the Middle East and distracted us from improving our own nation as our infrastructure crumbles, our schools struggle, and Americans go bankrupt just for getting sick. We must end these forever wars and use that money back home to improve the lives of the working class.
Palestine
I strongly support H.R. 786 to ensure the United States rigorously enforces the Leahy Laws, which prohibit the U.S. Department of State and Department of Defense from providing military support to foreign security forces guilty of human rights abuses. This critical legislation also advocates for the provision of unrestricted and unconditional humanitarian aid to Gaza, reinforcing our commitment to support vulnerable populations and protect human dignity. This bill embodies our resolve to foster global stability, justice, and respect for human rights.
I support and will co-sponsor H.R. 3565 the Block the Bombs Act
I support and will co-sponsor H.R. 876 recognizing the genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza
Additionally, I am resolutely opposed to settler violence, which forcibly displaces individuals and destabilizes communities. Such acts of aggression not only infringe upon fundamental human rights but also threaten the prospects for enduring peace and stability. It is imperative that we confront and curb these violent acts to ensure that all individuals can live securely in their homes, free from the fear of eviction or harassment. Supporting initiatives that combat settler violence is essential in our pursuit of justice, peace, and adherence to international human rights standards.
Ukraine
I support Ukraine's right to self-determination and condemn Russia’s war on Ukraine. Russia’s continued attacks against Ukraine violate international law and must end. While I will vote for military aid to Ukraine, I call for negotiations between the US and Russia to end the war and I recognize the US role in giving Russia a reason to start this war. The analogy is the US not allowing Russia to station missiles in Cuba. I view this as a war a proxy war between the US and Russia. I also support humanitarian aid to Ukraine and for an extension of the TPS program for Ukrainian asylum seekers that expires in October.
