The U.S. always finds money for war, but not for people. Medicare for All would cost less than our current system, yet it could ensure everyone gets the care they need. Instead of funding bombs, we should fund health, housing, and opportunity at home. We also support an arms embargo on Israel while it commits genocide and war crimes in accordance with United States law.

This can be done through congressional legislation to defund, dismantle or limit the agency’s ability to target individuals or families or restrict the use of certain tactics. ICE is not an old agency, it was created in 2003 after the passage of the 2002 Immigration and Customs Enforcement Act of 2002. We can pivot to a more humane immigrant policy. ICE has operated like a paramilitary organization, with near impunity, as we saw with the shooting of Renee Nicole Good. ICE has also been used to limit free speech such as against Mahmoud Khalil of Columbia University and Rümeysa Öztürk of Tufts University.

Trump violated the Constitution by accepting gifts from foreign states while in office and by taking unilateral military action without imminent threat. Under the Emoluments Clause and other legal grounds, impeachment is warranted.
